Relaunch your professional career and be part of making
energy sustainable for generations to come.

Have you taken a break from the world of work for several years; maybe to raise a family, because you have lived in a different country or had caring responsibilities?

RWE’s Career Returner Programme is designed just for you – join us to reignite your career at the heart of the energy transition and drive change with us on our journey to be carbon neutral by 2040.

What do we offer to career returners?

  • A 6-month limited employment contract to restart your career journey, with the opportunity to apply for all the exciting permanent roles within the RWE Group towards the end of your contract.

  • Participation in a formal onboarding session with other career returners, an individual development discussion with an expert and support in your new team

  • Customized development support to create a learning journey that is right for you. A variety of re-integration conversations with your manager as well as various development opportunities depending on what’s right for you. The opportunity for coaching, mentoring, technical or soft skills training are on offer.

  • The chance to connect and grow with others. As part of a cohort of Career Returners you will be able to share experiences and learnings.

A few hints and tips when applying as a Career Returner

The Application Process

The Interview Process

  • Prepare to be able to discuss your career break – explain the reason for the break, e.g. to raise your family and be able to talk about anything you achieved in your career break, and be clear on what you want now.
  • Be prepared to talk about the areas you feel you need development in
  • Do not worry about using examples which might be from a few years ago – we know that you will be able to "reignite" your skills when you join us.
  • Consider what you know about the world of energy and what you would like to learn.
