• RWE awarded contracts for the Jüchen 3 wind farm (84 MW) and the Seedorf repowering project (35 MW)
• Commissioning planned for 2028, subject to final investment decisions

RWE has secured contracts for two onshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 119 megawatts (MW) in the latest auction held by Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). Subject to a final investment decisions, both wind farms are scheduled to be commissioned in 2028.

The Jüchen 3 greenfield project is planned on recultivated land at the former Garzweiler open-cast mine in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district of North Rhine-Westphalia with an installed capacity of 84 MW.

The Seedorf repowering project involves the modernization of RWE’s existing wind farm in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district of Lower Saxony. Five existing turbines with a combined capacity of 9 MW are planned to be replaced by five modern turbines with a total installed capacity of 35 MW.

Green growth in the domestic market
Renewable energies are the cornerstone of a secure energy supply in the face of rising electricity demand. Electricity generation from onshore wind farms is particularly cost-effective and has a proven track record. RWE operates onshore wind farms in Germany with a capacity of around 770 MW and is continuously expanding them.
