Become a solar partner

RWE wants to work with you to achieve great things!

We’ll check its solar potential

RWE is aiming to massively expand renewables in its markets by 2030. That also includes extensive projects for photovoltaic systems. Collectively, we can achieve a lot by working together with farmers, companies and private landowners. They have the suitable land, and we have many years of experience and expertise in project development, construction and operation.

Our experienced team will help you to make your land available at a profit for solar power, so you can benefit long-term from the energy transition.

Your benefits with RWE as your solar partner

Steady income

Steady income

For you as the landowner, leasing parts of your land for solar projects is a lucrative business: With guaranteed annual rental income, a solar plant on your property will earn income for you and your family for the long term.

No capital Investment or risk

No capital Investment or risk

A solar farm involves no outlay for you: RWE assumes all responsibility for planning, financing and implementation, from design to the call for tenders or electricity sales, and the grid connection. We’ll keep you up to date with progress at all times – there’s nothing you have to deal with. And because we always finance our own construction work, we don’t depend on the banks, which means leasing your land to us is a very low-risk Arrangement.

Reliable partnership

Reliable partnership

RWE is a model of durability and reliability: We have more than 125 years’ experience in electricity generation, and have also become one of the global market leaders in the generation of renewables. The facilities we build are mainly for our own business activities, and when a solar farm is finished, we prefer to operate it ourselves. For us, a partnership is for at least 20 years, since our model is based on long-term collaboration rather than turning a quick profit.

Customised projects

Customised projects

Because every project is different, we design our solar farms individually and consider the circumstances of each case in detail, and we therefore take care of the necessary acceptance in the local area. From the initial discussion through to completing the solar farm, we work with you as an equal, transparently and reliably. When we promise something, we keep our word. When we offer you something, it’s a serious undertaking.

Energy generation in harmony with nature

Energy generation in harmony with nature

In addition to economic diversification, a photovoltaic plant provides overarching agricultural benefits, since we design and operate our systems sustainably and in tune with nature – for example, by increasing biodiversity in adjacent areas, helping to prevent erosion, building up humus, and protecting groundwater. Making use of your land for solar energy combines climate protection, agriculture and conservation.

What kinds of sites are we looking for, in specific terms?

  • Areas in agriculturally disadvantaged areas (depending on the federal state)

  • Strips of land 500 metres wide, alongside highways and railway lines

  • Water areas of 10 hectares or more (e.g. quarry ponds/opencast mining lakes)

  • Conversion areas from commercial, military and residential use or former transport routes

  • Construction sites (e.g. landfills)

  • Undeveloped commercial and industrial areas or paved-over areas (e.g. parking areas)

For our solar partners and those who wish to join us

Now’s the time to act!

You have space available and would like to make it available for practical use? And you want to be able to keep track of the returns on your land? Then join us and focus on renewables.

Complete the form below and send your enquiry to our contacts. That will complete the first of five steps in the process of leasing out your site.

  1. Complete our contact for below. Be sure to complete all the necessary fields.
  2. RWE will check the site specifications
  3. RWE will perform a preliminary examination and check whether the site is suitable for a solar farm, based on various criteria (e.g. sominant direct sunlight, eligibility for subsidies and opportunities for electricity-feed-in, and also the distance from residential housing).
  4. If the site is suitable, RWE will contact the property owner with a provisional offer of lease.
  5. Once the lease agreement has been signed, RWE will begin the project development process.
