At the end of July this year, the Supervisory Board of RWE AG had already appointed Dr. Markus Krebber (47) CEO of RWE AG effective 1 July 2021 for a term of five years. He succeeds Dr. Rolf Martin Schmitz, whose contract expires on this date, as scheduled.
At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board took further important personnel decisions in order to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities. With Krebber taking up the CEO position, Dr. Michael Müller (49) will succeed as the Group's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as of 1 July next year. The Supervisory Board appointed Müller to the Executive Board of RWE AG effective already 1 November 2020. From this date onward, he will at first assume responsibility for Finance, Tax and Business Services.
Furthermore, the Supervisory Board decided to appoint Zvezdana Seeger (55) Chief Human Resources Officer (CHR) and Labour Director of RWE AG effective 1 November 2020. In this Executive Board position, which Rolf Martin Schmitz has held concurrently to his position as CEO since 2017, Zvezdana Seeger will also be responsible for IT in the future.
Following these decisions, RWE AG will be led by three Executive Board members from the middle of next year onwards.
Werner Brandt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RWE AG, comments, "In Nanna Seeger and Michael Müller, we have selected two experienced executives who will complement the future management team around Markus Krebber. Together, they will continue to transform the Group and further develop RWE to ensure that the company grows sustainably and profitably as a responsible and attractive employer."
After obtaining a diploma in economics, Zvezdana Seeger began her career in mechanical engineering. After working for T-Systems Enterprise Service and Deutsche Post DHL Group amongst others, she was most recently a member of the Executive Board of DB Privat- und Firmenkundenbank AG and COO of the Private and Corporate Business unit of Deutsche Bank AG where her responsibilities mainly focused on IT and operations.
Michael Müller holds degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration. After working in management consulting, he began his career at the RWE Group in 2005. He held positions at RWE Power and RWE Generation where he was responsible for power plant construction, procurement, asset management and a restructuring programme. In 2014, he was appointed Head of Group Controlling. Since 2016, Müller has been CFO of the trading subsidiary RWE Supply & Trading, responsible for Accounting, Back Office, Controlling, HR, IT, Risk Management, Legal/Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. Until he takes up his new position as CFO of RWE AG in July next year, Müller will remain a member of the Executive Board and CFO of RWE Supply & Trading.
