At around 8.00 pm yesterday evening, an incident occurred in the vicinity of an Amprion substation, as a result of which a total of five RWE lignite-fired power plant units in the Rhenish lignite area, with a combined capacity of 4,200 megawatts (MW), were taken off the grid. At the time, the units were feeding around 3,000 MW of power into the grid. The units affected were Neurath G and F, as well as Niederaußem H, G and K.
The Neurath G and Niederaußem H units, with a combined capacity of around 1,600 MW, are expected to be reconnected to the grid in the course of this morning. The Neurath F unit (1,000 MW) is expected to follow later today. The Niederaußem G and K units (totalling around 1,600 MW) are expected to be brought back online by the coming weekend.
RWE Power is in contact with the relevant authorities and the transmission system operator Amprion.

Update (1:55 p.m.):
The two power plant units, Neurath G and Niederaußem H, were reconnected to the grid this morning as planned. We expect the Neurath F unit to be reconnected to the grid by this evening. The Niederaußem G and K units are still expected to resume operation over the course of the coming weekend.
