Using the CO₂ filling machine, the CO₂ captured from the flue gas in the pilot CO₂ scrubbing plant can be stored in a tank that can hold 18 tonnes of CO₂ or filled into gas bottles. In this way the CO₂ can be made available for developing technologies that use CO₂ as a raw material, e.g. to manufacture fuels and base chemicals, or for energy storage.

A collaborative project is also in progress with the Jülich Research Centre, which uses the CO₂ obtained in this way for plant research.
