Overview of programme

From here, we’re providing flexible generation and playing a key role in the energy transition.

For 2027, we are looking for Engineers with a variety of disciplines. Our Engineers will work on an array of technologies, and get involved in Operations and Maintenance at our assets, engineering projects and commercial topics. You could be based at any of our locations in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK – so flexibility during and after your programme is required.

  • As part of the RWE Generation Engineering Graduate programme, you will experience an exciting introduction to the technologies within RWE Generation: Batteries, Gas, Hydro & Storage and Hydrogen. You will take on responsibility at an early stage and be exposed to exciting and meaningful tasks. In addition, we will accelerate your personal development with training, both technical and non-technical, networking opportunities and workshops. The combination of these and on-the-job training will ready you for a career as an Engineer with RWE!

    You will undertake mandatory rotations in the following areas:

    • A shift on a power generating asset
    • During an outage at a power generating asset
    • One with a commercial focus
    • Within the safety department

    And you can choose your other rotations from the following areas:

    • Asset Management/Optimisation
    • Business Development
    • Project Management
    • Strategy
    • Technology Scouting

    Home base locations Any of RWE Generation’s locations in Germany, the Netherlands or the UK – flexibility is key!
    Rotation locations One International rotation is allowed during your programme at any of RWE Generation’s locations in Germany, the Netherlands or the UK.

  • A university degree (MA preferred) in
    • Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering (or similar subjects) 
    Other requirements
    • Relevant internships or work experience
    • Enjoy working in an international team in the energy sector
    • A strong analytical and conceptual mindset
    • A high degree of initiative, responsibility and commitment
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, and willingness to travel (and possibly relocate) nationally and abroad
    • A strong command of the English Language, and for roles in Germany or the Netherlands, German and Dutch language skills in those respective countries

Development & training 

Our technical training programme includes mandatory and non-mandatory courses that will ready you for a career in Engineering in the energy sector.

You will also undertake a non-technical training programme, with modules on time management, communications and managing change.
