Impetus for Lower Saxony: RWE is constructing a further onshore wind farm. In the rural district of Rotenburg (Wümme), on the south-western edge of the Hamburg metropolitan region, a total of four wind turbines are being constructed with a total capacity of 22.8 megawatts (MW). The special feature here is that three of the turbines, with a total capacity of 17.1 MW, belong to RWE. RWE is constructing a further identical turbine with a nominal capacity of 5.7 MW on behalf of local community energy company OsteWind GmbH & Co. KG., which will operate this turbine independently. Once they are completed, the four wind turbines will generate enough green electricity to provide a climate-friendly supply to more than 13,000 households.
