Sven Utermöhlen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RWE Offshore Wind, will not renew his contract and will leave RWE at his own request on 30 September 2026. He will then continue to advise RWE’s offshore wind business for a period of six to twelve months. Tobias Keitel, who currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), will succeed him as CEO of RWE Offshore Wind as of 1 October 2026.

Markus Krebber, CEO of RWE AG: “My special thanks go to Sven Utermöhlen. With his many years of expertise in wind energy and his strong personal commitment, he has significantly driven forward the expansion of our offshore wind portfolio in recent years. While I regret his decision to leave RWE, I wish him all the best for the future, both professionally and personally. I have greatly valued working with him, so I am delighted that he will continue to support us with his expertise in an advisory capacity.”

The Management Board led by the new CEO, Tobias Keitel, will continue to comprise Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Gunhild Grieve, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Ulf Kerstin and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Thomas Michel. The role of CTO will be filled on 1 October 2026 by Julian Garnsey, who has been responsible for RWE’s offshore wind construction projects since 2023 in his role as Director of Construction & Project Delivery.

“In Tobias Keitel, we have an excellent successor who, as CEO, will use his strategic and operational leadership experience to further develop our offshore wind business. Julian Garnsey strengthens the management team with his extensive expertise in the construction of large offshore wind farms. I very much look forward to continuing our successful collaboration,” said Markus Krebber.

Experienced managers will drive RWE’s offshore wind business forward

Tobias Keitel has been a member of the Management Board of RWE Offshore Wind since 15 September 2025. Before he joined RWE, he was President and CEO of Voith Hydro, a leading global supplier of equipment for hydropower plants, and held various senior positions in the industry. As CTO of RWE Offshore Wind, Tobias Keitel is currently responsible for engineering, procurement and construction and therefore primarily leads the successful implementation of RWE’s major offshore wind projects under construction. In addition, his current area of responsibility also includes HSSE (health, safety, security and environment).

Julian Garnsey, the new CTO of RWE Offshore Wind, has been with the RWE Group for more than 20 years and has held various senior positions in the development, engineering and construction of offshore wind projects. Together with his team, he is currently leading the construction of four offshore wind farms in four countries.

RWE is a leading global player in offshore wind

RWE is one of the world’s leading players in the offshore wind sector and has more than 20 years of experience in the development, construction, and efficient operation of offshore wind farms. RWE is currently implementing four large offshore wind projects: Sofia in the UK (1.4 GW), Nordseecluster in Germany (1.6 GW) and Thor in Denmark (1.1 GW) – both together with Norges Bank Investment Management – and OranjeWind in the Netherlands (795 MW) together with TotalEnergies. Once completed, these wind farms will have a total generation capacity of 4.8 GW, of which 3.1 GW represents RWE’s share. In addition, RWE has a large pipeline of attractive development projects. Overall, the company intends to expand its offshore wind capacity by a net 5 GW by 2031.
