The RWE site in Essen at Ernestinenstrasse 60 is the headquarters of RWE Technology International (RWETI) with its 220 employees.

The Essen location has a long tradition: in 1898, RWE was founded as a local municipal in Essen with the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Elektrizitätswerk AG. Since 1965, RWE has been active worldwide as an independent engineering and consulting company in the mining sector. In mid-2015, the technical know-how for the construction and operation of power plant and mining projects in Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands was bundled in the RWETI.

Over the years, service skills have been expanded. Today, RWETI supports its customers in Germany and abroad in the realization of energy projects in the areas of conventional generation, mining, renewable energies and grid connections.
