Essen, 10 March 2021

  • The auction cleared at £18/kW/yr
  • Most of RWE Generation’s assets successfully secured an Agreement

The T-4 Capacity Market auction has completed for delivery 2024/25. The EMR Delivery Body (National Grid ESO) has announced that the capacity auction has cleared at £18/kW/yr and 40819.895 MW of capacity has been secured for the UK.

A provisional list of the UK assets that have successfully secured an Agreement can be viewed here. This information is still subject to Secretary of State approval.

RWE Generation UK has secured Agreements for all of the sites that were entered into the auction 6624 MW (derated capacity) with the exception of our Cheshire distributed asset site and our two 20 MW new-build projects at Cheshire and at Grimsby. This means RWE have 6544.1 MW of capacity agreements for the 2024/25 delivery year.

This result is fully aligned with our auction strategy. Cheshire already has Capacity Market agreements for delivery in 2021/22.

Successful auctions over the past eight years have provided stability for our generation business moving forward. RWE will continuously look for opportunities to develop and make efficiencies and cost savings across our business.
