On December 2, Michael Müller, member of the Executive Board of RWE AG, discussed how sustainable finance can help finance the transformation to a climate-neutral economy with a high-ranking panel. Karsten Löffler, Chairman of the German Government's Sustainable Finance Advisory Council, Marcel Haag, Director of the European Commission's Directorate General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union and Marion Bayer-Schiller, Managing Director of Unicredit Bank AG, spoke about the current state of regulation in a lively RWE Talk.
The discussion showed that sustainable finance is becoming more and more important in Berlin and Brussels and that financial institutions as well as companies in the real economy are increasingly dealing with it. Sustainable Finance will continue to be present in the coming year with, among other things, the "Renewed Strategy on Sustainable Finance", the draft law on the EU Green Bond Standard and the final report of the German National Advisory Council on Sustainable Finance.
A decisive factor will be to make Sustainable Finance a driver of decarbonisation and an important component of the European Green Deal, while at the same time keeping an eye on the needs of companies in transition.
