RWE is leading the way to a green energy world.

With our comprehensive investment and growth strategy ‘Growing Green’, we are expanding our powerful and green generation capacity. By 2030, it will have an international capacity of 50 gigawatts. To this end, RWE is investing more than €50 billion gross in this decade.

Our portfolio is based on offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydropower, hydrogen, batteries, biomass and gas. Our Supply & Trading business creates customised energy solutions for large customers. RWE has locations in the attractive markets of Europe, America and the Asia-Pacific region.

We are rigorously and responsibly phasing out nuclear energy and coal. Government-mandated exit roadmaps have been defined for both energy sources. We reduced our CO2 emissions by more than 55 % between 2012 and 2021.

On the way to achieving this, we have set ourselves ambitious targets for all activities that cause greenhouse gas emissions. The targets have been confirmed by the Science Based Targets Initiative and are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Our strategy at a glance

By 2030, we want to be one of the world's largest producers of electricity from renewable energies and will be investing more than 50 billion euros in offshore and onshore wind power, solar, batteries, flexible generation and hydrogen. We are expanding our own capacity in these areas to 50 gigawatts.

Our goal: to be climate-neutral by 2040.

We are already active in 30 hydrogen projects.

Hydrogen is an integral part of our green growth strategy. By the end of the decade, we want to build up 2 gigawatts of our own electrolysis capacity.
