About the role
We are launching a new, exciting Graduate scheme for 2026, focussed on Operational Technology (OT) & Cyber Security. OT encompasses all the technology, e.g. SCADA, PLCs or the DCS that controls the physical running of our assets and is a crucial part of power station operations.
As part of your programme, you will undertake placements in the fields of control and instrumentation (C&I), OT security and operations and maintenance (O&M). These placements could require you to work at any of our assets both domestically and internationally, so a willingness to travel regularly is essential.
Alongside your placements, you will undertake external training with our partner, and this combination of external training and your placements will ready you for a career in OT with us!
Job requirements and experience
- Degree educated in automation, computer science, cyber security, electronics or mechatronics, preferably at a Masters level.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Business fluent in English.
- Willing to travel and relocate, both during your programme and after with our financial support.
- Open to learning new skills, with both on-the-job training and external courses/training provided.
- 5 years’ residency in the UK, and willing to undertake SC level security clearance.
RWE is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment – we value your passion, your willingness to learn and your desire to thrive. So, if you don’t display all the skills above but think this is the job for you, need flexible working arrangements or adjustments which aren’t outlined already, we would still like to hear from you.

Our team continues to be inventive, using their experience, talent and sunrise technologies to be the cornerstone our society can rely on.
Pre Employment Screening
A pre-condition for any appointment to this role is that you undergo and clear a national security vetting check (NSV) from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). It will then be a condition of your employment that you continue to undergo and pass these regularly during your employment. Please make yourself familiar with what DESNZ and these NSV require before you apply for this role. For example, please be aware that the NSV checks are quite intrusive and far reaching including a review of your financial circumstances and the scope potentially expands into your immediate family in addition to your own personal circumstances. Further information can be found on the gov.uk advice page here. In particular, please note that for NSV clearance for this role, DESNZ requires you to demonstrate that you are currently resident within the UK and have been for a continuous minimum of 5 years. If, in making your application to us for this role, you cannot demonstrate this DESNZ 5 year minimum UK residence requirement, we will not be able to progress your application and it will be automatically rejected.
RWE is part of the vital infrastructure. Therefore, we screen all our new employees, to the extent that it is relevant to the position.
