The Manager, Engineering will primarily be responsible for team of Engineer and designers developing preliminary PV and Battery designs, System Performance models, RFP responses, and support of all land use permitting including project development design reviews, interconnection and final EPC or subcontracting activities. This position plays an important role in the department through development activities across a number of projects and supporting local approvals for projects. Upon completion of development the candidate will be responsible to develop or review final engineering design packages for construction. The candidate will be responsible for completing the work either directly, or through internal or external resources.
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve as a PV and BESS leader technical expert for team
- Maintain, establish, and apply PV and BESS design standards and templates with the design team
- Review all preliminary PV and BESS system design drawings of staff
- Coordinate teams efforts to ensure smooth interconnection application submission and application of local utility requirements in design documents
- Resolve issues as they arise during Development, Interconnection and Construction
- Create and review detailed engineering design packages
- Maintain and refine engineering processes and procedure for the engineering staff
- Review and train staff to complete PV Syst models for the individual projects and evaluation of new markets
- Maintain and establish relationships with external engineering resources
- Establish budgets and manage subcontract and accounting processes
- Ensure accurate development of Permit and Construction design packages for PV and BES projects
- Review of Request for Proposals and support proposal development. Provide proposal input including detailed technical project descriptions, legal risk and responsibility definitions, financial analysis, detailed supporting documentation of contractor quotes, simulation results, and cost and savings derivations
- Coordinate and review the final site plans with the senior design staff and inter discipline reviews to ensure compliance with other design considerations such as Civil and Structural Engineering. These include items such as weight restrictions, geotechnical challenges, flood elevations, wetland setbacks and advisory to those disciplines of electrical issues
- Support Development and Construction activities on site and perform on site visits as necessary to support the project construction
- Hire, train and develop engineering and design/drafting technicians on systems design, technologies, codes and contract document preparation
- Review the design approach methods and equipment selection to ensure the best overall project design and customer goals are achieved
- Support Development and Construction activities on site and perform on site visits as necessary to support the project construction
- Review Power Purchase Agreements, Tolling, and EPC agreements to ensure design compliance
- Oversee various testing and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- PE Registration as a Professional Engineer
- Drivers License
- Minimum of 6 years experience including 2 years of management experience.
- Competent with computer software including Microsoft office suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and SKM/ETap
- Demonstrates knowledge of AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Demonstrates knowledge of PV Syst and system modeling
- Able to plan and manage the development and production of permit and contract documents for the construction of electrical PV systems.

- Approximately 20% of the time
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois or New York is $130,000 - $190,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
